π The latest issue of our CDG Global Development Brief is out!
This week’s focus: New York, Kigali, Berlin β three capitals, three entirely different answers to the same question. As New York opened the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly, Rwanda approved its new development cooperation policy running through 2050: the goal is over 70% of financing through the private sector and domestic financial systems by 2030. And in Berlin, pressure grew inside the Bundestag β 100,000 signatures handed over, the SPD no longer defending the planned cut as a unified bloc.
Also this week: the World Bank sees potential for 2,900 new jobs in Seychelles by 2040, Benin’s development bank CDC joins the global ‘Finance in Common’ network, and a notable South-South coalition of Egypt, South Africa, Brazil, India and Japan pushes back together against tighter EU pesticide rules. Plus: a look at Sweden’s new Congo strategy as a contrast to the German debate.
